Sir George White Memorial Flute Band

Sir George White Memorial Flute Band, from Broughshane, was formed in 1983 after the renaming of the Broughshane Young Loyalists Flute Band. The BYL had been formed five years previously, in 1978.

The new name was chosen in tribute to the honourable soldier Sir George White who is buried in Broughshane. In changing its name, the band also went about changing its style and as a result the band had a great success over the years winning (maney) many prizes throughout Ulster and in Scotland. This success would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all the members, past and present. and we would like to thank all of them for giving the band their time.We would also like to thank the people of Broughshane and also the local businesses who have given us great support over the years.

We would also like to thank our conductor, Mr. Eric Russell for his on-going contribution to the band and without whom some of our successes over the years could not have been possible.

The band has enjoyed a long association with the Orange Order and we hope to continue our connections with the Braid, Ballymena and Belfast Districts, not to mention our very close friends in New Cumnock, Scotland, over the many years to come.
